The Green Berry has been nestled in the heart of Historic Yorkshire since the 1960’s, often referred to as “God’s own County’’ due to large stretches of countryside, including the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Peak District National Parks.

Firstly, Yorkshire is one of the most important and productive areas for farming fresh produce in the UK.
The region benefits from a mild, maritime climate which is ideal for growing a wide range of crops. The
area also has rich, fertile soil which is perfect for cultivating a variety of fruits and vegetables, as well
as crops such as wheat and barley.
Yorkshire has a long history of agriculture and farming, with many generations of farmers passing
down their knowledge and expertise to each other over the years. This means that our farming
partners in the region have a deep understanding of the land and the crops they grow, allowing them
to produce high-quality produce for us, that is renowned for its flavour and freshness.
Yorkshire is also home to a number of specialist/ Artisan food and drink producers, such as cheese
makers, bakers and brewers, who we work closely with in conjunction with the local farmers to create
a diverse range of delicious products. All these factors combine to make The Green Berry worthy of the
title of ‘offering the finest Fresh Produce in the UK’.
Our purpose
We took over the business 5 years ago as an enthusiastic & eclectic bunch of ex-service personnel, corporate retailers & local folk, looking to do build upon this fine reputation. We had a burning desire, supported by the feedback of our customers, to create a better way to shop for other products, that took less time, cost less money and fulfilled their weekly needs. So, we built a website with all our deli- cious Fresh Produce and expanded the ranges in other categories so that our customers didn’t need to grapple with the big supermarket’s impersonal online offerings.

We recognise that right across the Country and locally, our business is working hard to bring
Communities more value on the items they both need and want, as incomes are squeezed & financial
pressures put more and more hardworking families in impossible situations. Our mission is to help and
support these families to be able to buy the products they both need and like by removing the
constant fear of price increases and putting “People before Profit”.
We set about creating a sustainable business model putting “People before Profit” whilst offering
some of Yorkshires and the UK’s leading artisan products at prices that are both affordable &
represent exceptional value. We are constantly increasing our product range based on consumer
feedback, with the ultimate goal of making peoples lives easier. We also care dearly about connecting
with our customers on a personal level, with a family owned, true Yorkshire Artisan retailer whose ethos
is based on good old fashioned trust, customer service and quality.
We are working towards becoming Carbon Neutral & offer a large range of organic, eco-friendly
plant-based products, but we have so much more work to do to protect the environment for our
children and their children’s children.
